Parts A, B, & C

Content Area/Specialization, Topic, and Students:

WHATS THE EMOTION?

Caroline Batts

I will be focusing on Special Education students, who are in elementary grades. So anywhere from ages 6 to 10. I mainly want to be teaching students with autism so this lesson will mostly be focusing on them as I make this lesson plan. I will be focusing on teaching the students on how to describe what emotion they feel after watching a certain clip from different films or the same film.Autistic children usually have a hard time identifying emotions, so that is why I have chosen to focusing on a lesson about emotions because I mainly want to work with students with Autism. This will help them outside of the classroom because they will be able to learn how to identify the emotion that they are feeling and learn how to deal and express this emotion when they feel it. It is important for Special education students to learn this because they will be learning at an early age which emotions are good and which emotions are something that they don't like feeling and what is an appropriate way to deal with them.

Content Area Standard(s):

NC Professional Teaching Standard:

Understand the relationship between self and others in the broader world.

My lesson will meet these criteria because it is teaching about how to  identify emotions and deal with in a way that respects other people in the world around them.
